Mon Choisy Elderly Persons Home lies in the heart of Kennington
Village, Oxford, and is owned by Audit Care Residential Care
Homes, Mon Choisy opened in 1985 and completed a major refurbishment
and extension programme in 2001. Upgraded to current Regulations
governed by the National Care Standards Commission (NCSC), the Home
is registered for 28 residents with a number of day care facilities.
There are 22 single bedrooms and 3 double bedrooms, all tastefully
decorated and fully furnished.
OUR ROOMS
There a several rooms in the home for communal or private use. The
Walnut Room at the front of the building is a TV, video and social
lounge. Morning and afternoon tea is often served here. The Activity
Room is a private room that can be used for quiet reflection, board
games, reading, hobbies etc. The new Sun Lounge located at the rear
of the building overlooks the gardens and pond fountain. It is a
quiet, bright room ideal for reading, relaxation, entertaining
guests, parties etc. The dining room, arranged in tables of four, is
a pleasant room that can be used at any time for meals or general
activities. Mon Choisy has well kept and mature gardens where
residents can enjoy a stroll or simply sit and enjoy the sunshine.
We offer our resident the following choices of rooms:
- 21 Single Bedrooms ‑ all over 10 m2 ‑ without ensuite
facilities
- 2 Double Bedrooms ‑ all over 16 m2 ‑ without ensuite
facilities
- 1 Double Bedroom just under 16 m2 - without ensuite
facilities
Each bedroom comes fully furnished and is equipped with a wash hand
basin that has thermostatically controlled water, a vanity unit, a
mirror with shaver socket, a television point and a telephone point.
A reading light is fitted above all beds and the light switches are
easily accessible. An independent radiator in every room sets the
required temperature for Residents at all times. There is a speech
'nurse call system' installed in every room, which alerts the staff
that someone is calling for assistance. A bell will sound, your room
number will flash on the alarm board and a staff member will come to
your aid immediately. You will be shown how to use this bell.
Additional facilities in the home include 2 assisted baths, 5
showers, 10 WCs and a lift.
OUR STAFF
Audit Care Residential Care Homes place great emphasis on the
calibre of Staff we choose to work with us. Both Nurses and socially
experienced personnel are in attendance. In addition to the
Registered Manager, Mon Choisy employs an Assistant Manager, 9
Senior Care Staff, 6 Care Assistants (full time/ part time), a Chef,
2 domestic Staff, and a maintenance person. There are always 2 or 3
Care Staff members available through the night and a Senior Staff
member is always on call.
Audit Care Residential Care Homes is owned and run by Mr and Mrs
Audit and assisted by Mrs Margaret Bradbury as Care Home Manager.
The Head of Home at Mon Choisy is Mrs Ellen Audit. Both Mr James and
Mrs Ellen Audit are qualified Nurses, and have over 25 years of
experience in management and nursing care for the elderly. Mr Audit
also holds a Diploma in Business Administration and Mrs Audit holds
a Certificate in Management. Mrs Margaret Bradbury has over 25years
of experience in caring for the elderly with the NHS and privately
and holds a City and Guilds competence in training and development.
Prior to joining our team she served for 12 years as the Registered
Manager for an elderly persons home.
Three of our Senior Carers are qualified Nurses having experience
both in the UK and abroad. Other staff are working towards National
Vocation Qualifications in Health and Care are trained in Moving and
Handling, First Aid, Infection Control, Health and Hygiene, training
and development of Staff (both in-House and National Vocational
Training) is needs of the Residents. The Senior Staff have specific
areas of responsibility in health c housekeeping and home
management. Arrangements for Staff recruitment, training, accordance
with government guidelines and with good personal practice.
SOCIAL ACTIVITIES, HOBBIES & LEISURE INTERESTS
We
aim to provide a lifestyle for our Residents which satisfies their
social, cultural, religious and recreational interests and needs and
we encourage them to share with us their interests and hobbies. We
help facilitate individual and group activities so that our
Residents enjoy being part of a community. We respect the quite time
and there is no compulsion on a Resident to join in on any of the
communal social activities. We have appointed a member of staff as
Activities Organiser to assist with the social programme.
We offer the following social activities: Board games, bingo,
in-house entertainment, parties, professional entertainers
(Simplicity Dance Band playing all time music), summer bazaars,
video sessions, monthly communion service, three weekly prayer
meetings, outings and a host of other village involvements and
activities.
Our Homes have been fortunate to have hosted several 100th birthday
parties over the past years with coverage on local newspapers and
radio. Our birthday girls and boys have all received telegrams from
the Queen commending and congratulating them on reaching a century.
CONCERNS & COMPLAINTS
Whist we will endeavour to make every effort to provide a safe and
secure environment for our Clients, there may be times when there is
dissatisfaction. We encourage discussion and action on issues before
they develop into formal complaints. We welcome positive and
critical comments from our Clients and their Representatives. You
have the right to air your grievances, either formally or
informally. We operate a simple complaints procedure and will take
all necessary action to protect our Clients legal rights. Please

OUR FEES
Your attention is drawn to Audit Care Residential Care Home's Terms
and Conditions and Mon Choisy Fees included in this information
pack.
Fees are calculated per week paid four weeks in advance and is
based on assessed criteria of needs. Fees include all care and
accommodation costs, food and drink, heating and lighting, any
laundry done on the premises, and any other services Staff provide.
Service users are expected to pay from their personal allowance or
private income for personal items such as newspapers, tapes, books
and magazines etc. and for additional services provided at Mon
Choisy such as hairdressing and chiropody.
Fees are normally reviewed on an annual basis or more often if it
is necessary to make changes to the Care Plan.
